Where are pictures backed up to?

I see that in my Google Drive in the Android/Fuelio folder there is a Pictures folder but it is empty - but in the sync csv I can see that there is an image name added to my file.

Where are the images stored? Does fuelio make a copy of the image I select and place it into the fuelio data folder locally on my phone? 

Please explain how this works
