How does Fuelio calculate mileage?

Hassaan M fa 8 anys updated by Anup KB fa 7 mesos 10

Hi,

I have been using your app for the last couple of months and I like it. However, I have a query that has been bothering me since the first full fillup - as to how Fuelio calculates mileage? Fuelio doesn't know the fuel capacity of my car and my fuel fillups vary in the amount of petrol I put in. For instance, I can go to a full fillup from a quarter tank, half tank, or three quarters of a full tank. I never wait for the fuel meter to read empty.

This may seem like a dumb question but your opinion in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

It's pretty simple.

No need to have empty tank. Just make sure to check full tank when it is filled to the top.

To see fuel consumption (fuel economy) and some other values in the Stats you need at least two full fillups. Fuelio is using full tank algorithm to calculate consumption. It's the most accurate algorithm to calculate that. Thanks to that I can calculate how many litres/gallons you have used between fillups.

So, 'full tank' is a control point no matter how much fuel remains in the tank prior to full fillup?

Yes. Between full tanks you know how many litres you have used.

Awesome! Thank you for the clarificiation, Adrian!

I had full tank filled. Then several partially fillings. Today I filled full tank. Feulio does not calculate feul consumption. Please advise.

You need at least two full fillups to see consumption. First full fillup is initial and setting control point. For the second one you'll see consumption.

There were more than 2 full filups though. Several months in between full filups with weekly partial fillups.

Maybe you have missed fillup on your log? Without seeing the data it will be hard to tell.

Sorted. Synced to cloud from second phone. Cleared caches and data. Downloaded from cloud. Now correct . Thanks for responding.

Several times I will fill up partial but milage will not calculate, Please advise. Thanks
